I want to provide you with the level of consulting that allows you to live your best life. When I worked as a Nurse Practitioner in a traditional medical setting, I was often limited in how I could spend my time due to the insurance payment model. What follows is an explanation of financial policies. If, after reading this, you still have questions, feel free to ask more questions.

Why I Do Not Accept Insurance.

I appreciate the financial challenge this can present to some clients. I decided to move to health consulting to focus on the health and wellness.

When insurance companies are billed directly, the companies require a provider to sign a contract that determines which services they will and will not cover as well as the associated charges. In general, insurance companies are not focused on preventative or wellness services. They are invested in the conventional model of health care that focuses on illness care. I am committed to another approach that provides for specific nutritional and lifestyle recommendations that are often not covered in mainstream care.

Businesses must agree to accept the fees the insurance company establishes, regardless of whether the fees are reasonable or applicable to their focus. In general, these fees cover the actual cost of brief (and I believe the lowest quality) care. Participating providers are required to accept discounted fees for their services. This means they must write off the difference, often as much as fifty percent or more of the fee for service. Costs to provide high quality care have increased dramatically over time, making this a difficult situation. As with many businesses, in todays care environment, the actual cost to provide services continues to rise, while the percentage of reasonable fees that insurance payments cover is declining.

This forced most providers and clinics to keep their office visits very brief, so that they can see many patients within a given timeframe to remain viable. This leaves many clients feeling frustrated with extremely brief office visits, while at the same time expressing frustration that I do not accept insurance. Unfortunately, I have found I cannot stay in the insurance networks and provide the time-intensive, researched based education you deserve. I want you to understand that this type of education takes considerable time and expertise and someone has to pay for that time and expertise.

Nutritional Supplements.

You do not have to purchase any supplements through my website in order to participate in programs. Nutritional supplements can be an adjunct to dietary and lifestyle modification. There are many brands available and you can find good quality supplements elsewhere. As a service to you, a link to quality nutritional supplements is provided. These include high-quality nutritional products from the top nutritional research laboratories in North America. However, we keep our mark-ups as low as possible.
